Poisonous Plaything

As children, we tend to look towards our possessions as physical markers of comfort, able to pacify us without expecting anything out of us in turn. For many children, their stuffed animals and baby blankets are their best friends. But what happens when those fluffy balls of joy don’t necessarily have the best intentions? For this piece, I wanted to illustrate an Unlikely Villain in the form of something we universally hold dear: our childhood toys. I also aimed to incorporate elements of creatures widely feared by both children and adult alike: snakes and spiders, in order to most greatly contrast the cuteness of a hand-sewn teddy bear.
